Acrobat XI from Adobe now Integrates with Microsoft’s SharePoint
Tighter SharePoint integration and support for touchscreens are highlights of Adobe’s latest update to the Acrobat Professional XI. due for release on October 15.
Acrobat XI offers the ability to check PDF documents out of a SharePoint library for editing, and then check them back in once finished.
It also provides for automated processes by hosting shared document reviews or data collection for PDF forms on a SharePoint server.
Acrobat XI also supports SCCM and SCUP for enterprise deployment and management.
The new version will enable PDF files to be exported as Microsoft Word files or Excel spreadsheets while keeping layouts, formatting, and tables intact. Better integration with PowerPoint means PDF files can be exported as PowerPoint presentations with fully editable text, tables, objects, and master layouts (Acrobat XI Pro only).
In Acrobat XI Pro the Acrobat task ribbon can create a PDF and immediately run a preset Action to quickly complete common tasks, such as preparing a document for archiving or public distribution.
It will also allow comments from a PDF file to be imported into the source Word document as markups that can be accepted or rejected with the Microsoft Word Track Changes tool
New integration with cloud services, includes Web contracting with Adobe EchoSign and forms creation, data collection and analysis with Adobe FormsCentral.
Thanks to the PowerPoint integration, users are able to open presentations in Acrobat, edit them, save them in other Microsoft formats, and automatically convert them into PDF, which is all in addition to the standard functionality with Word files and Excel spreadsheets. Acrobat users will also be able to open, edit and save documents to and from the SharePoint content management system, and the new version XI supports the Office 365 cloud service from Microsoft.
